ViewTonic - a hologram in a drink

The purpose of this project wiki is to develop and provide a free open source volumetric display on low cost basis for home use. The project consists of two parts. Part one is affecting the hardware composition documented on these pages. The second part consists of the upcoming open source project JinTonic, a Java based software to drive the hardware and projection calculations.
This volumetric display offers the possibility to have a real 3D view on a computer calculated model in contrast to a 3D view by visual effects, e.g. in conjucntion with 3D glasses. The “Tonic” refers to the easiest available fluorescent material: chinin containing tonic water, which could be used as display basis. However, it will be subject to further research to find a proper display liquid.
